WHERE TO STAY

Southern Vermont Cabins with Hot Tubs & Saunas

Our picks for warming up after a day on the trails or the slopes, plus a few cozy alternatives with wood stoves and deep soaking tubs.

There are few better ways to end a Vermont day than stepping out of the cold and into the heat. Whether you've spent the morning on the slopes at Stratton or the afternoon on a trail in the Green Mountain National Forest, a hot tub or sauna turns a good day into a great one.

These are the homes in the Crow Flies Vermont collection built for exactly that.

Private 30-Acre Chalet, Townshend

A private hot tub and a sauna, on thirty acres with its own marked trail system, a waterfall and several streams. With five bedrooms and room for eight (plus two more in the optional sugar shack), it's our top pick for group ski trips and family gatherings. It's pet-friendly, too.

The Black House with Flowers on the Door, Windham

A wood-fired sauna and outdoor shower set into the forest behind a lovingly restored 1800s farmhouse. Add a soaking tub in the primary suite, a wood stove in the living room and Magic Mountain ten minutes away, and you have one of the coziest winter weekends in Southern Vermont.

Tips for a warm-up weekend

Book winter weekends early. Homes with a hot tub or sauna are the first to fill around holidays and school vacations.

Plan for the roads. Many Southern Vermont homes sit on hills and dirt roads, so AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended in winter.

Pack for both. Bring a robe and warm slippers for the walk between the sauna and the house.
